450 Class

Hunter Lawrence

Hunter Lawrence won the overall at Red Bud with 2-1 moto scores and was about half a lap away from it being his third 1-1 of the season. He tipped over on the final lap of moto one, losing the lead. This is the first time Hunter has won back to back overalls in the 450 class. Hunter’s second moto was a clinic. He had the fastest average lap time and four of the six fastest average segment times. The two he didn’t have the fastest in, he had the second best average.

This win put Hunter’s 450 career average overall finish at 2.48, which is the third best of all time. It is only bested by Ricky Carmichael (1.72) and Jett Lawrence (1.69). This was the 22nd podium of his career which ties him with Sebastien Tortelli all time. He now has four wins which ties him with Justin Barcia and Zach Osborne.

Jorge Prado

Jorge Prado tied his career best overall finish by going 3-2 for second overall. It was one of the best days of his AMA career. He earned two holeshots on the day, matching the amount of holeshots he had in his entire AMA career coming into the race. He led laps in both motos for the first time and ended up with 15 led in total. He led seven laps in his career before Red Bud.

Prado’s opening lap speed in moto two was exceptional. He ran a 2:09.928 on lap three, fastest of the race by 1.475 seconds. It’s the second time in his career where he set the fastest lap time of a moto. He had two lap times that were 2:10s or lower while no one else in the class dropped below a 2:11.

Jett Lawrence

Jett Lawrence earned just his fourth ever non-win podium by going 1-5 for third overall. He suffered two crashes in moto two after crossing lap one in third place. It’s just the fourth moto in Jett’s 450 career where he finished worse than his lap one position. His moto win in moto one though places him in sole possession of fourth all time in the moto wins list with 49, surpassing Bob Hannah’s 48. Ryan Dungey is next on the list with 68.

Jett put on a great ride in his moto one victory, despite getting passed by his brother late, and then recapturing the lead on the final lap due to Hunter’s crash. Jett had the fastest average lap time and second fastest raw lap time. He had the fastest average segment times for the first four segments (of six) of the track. He had a top three or better lap time every single lap of the moto.

R.J. Hampshire

R.J. Hampshire had his best ride of the season, going a clean 4-4 for fourth overall. Red Bud has treated Hampshire very well in his career. Two of his four 250 MX overall wins came at the venue. Now in the 450 class, he has a pair of fourth place finishes. In 2025, his fourth was his first career 450 top five overall finish and he went onto finish in the top five at every round the remainder of the season. In 2026, like 2025, this was his first top five overall of the season.

Now with sixteen starts under his belt, Hampshire is still one of just three riders in 450 MX history to never finish outside the top ten overall.

Garrett Marchbanks

Garrett Marchbanks put together another very solid ride, going 5-6 for fifth overall. He also had a 5-6 one round ago at High Point but finished sixth overall there. Red Bud was his third top five finish of the season after he had just one entering 2026. Since round two, Marchbanks has finished in the top six in every moto. Only two other riders can say the same: Jett Lawrence and Hunter Lawrence.

Marchbanks’ starts have been getting better but he’s likely still searching for more. He has rounded lap one inside the top ten in seven straight motos now but only one of those seven have been better than ninth.

Haiden Deegan

Haiden Deegan suffered a first turn crash in moto one but still managed to charge to tenth place from dead last. He was 16.884 seconds behind second to last place at the end of lap one. His 27 net positions gained that moto are the most by a rider in a moto this season. That salvage effort would be enough to help him earn sixth overall as he would finish third in moto two.

Despite coming through the pack in moto one, Deegan had the second best laptime consistency rating for the moto. In moto two, he flipped his start fortunes and rounded lap one in second place, tying a career best in the 450 class. It was just the third time this year he has started in the top three. He had a good moto, putting down the third fastest lap time and third fastest average lap time. He never stopped charging as he set the fastest lap time of the final lap.

International History

The United States’ 250th birthday was spoiled by a host of international riders. For the third time in five rounds so far this season, all three podium finishers in the 450 class were international riders. It is quite the impressive feat as a foreign rider sweep had happened only one time in 450 class history before this season.

In the 250 class, both of the top two spots were held by foreign riders (Cole Davies and Jo Shimoda) meaning the only USA rider on the podium in either class was Ryder DiFrancesco. It is the first time in MX history where five of the six podium finishers at a single race were international riders.

250 Class

Cole Davies

Cole Davies is the first rider in the 250 class to become a repeat overall winner this season. Davies would go 1-2 on the day to earn his second career overall win and second in a row. He is the first Oceanic rider to win an overall at Red Bud in the 250 class.

Davies’ speed is beginning to show more and more outdoors. He now has three straight pole positions and has won three of the last four motos with 40 laps led at the last two rounds. Those three pole positions in a row are the first time a rider has done so since Tom Vialle at rounds 6-8 in 2024.

His starts have also drastically improved since the first three rounds of the season. Had zero holeshots and averaged a lap one position of 7.50 at the first three rounds and now averages a start position of 2.50 and has two holeshots in the past two rounds.

Jo Shimoda

Jo Shimoda secured his first moto win of the season in moto two but his 3-1 moto scores would get him second overall. His performance was also enough to move him into the points lead by four over Davies. It is the first time in his career he has held a 250 MX points lead. This was Shimoda’s 30th career podium, tying him with Erik Kehoe and Mike Brown. He is just one away now from tying Ryan Villopoto and Johnny O’Mara.

Shimoda’s speed was top of the class in motos despite only qualifying eleventh, 4.421 seconds off the pole position. Despite the third in moto one, Shimoda had the fastest lap of the moto, fastest average lap time of the moto, and third best lap time consistency score of the moto. In moto two, he had the fastest average lap time of the moto again and set the fastest lap of each of the four laps before the one where he passed Davies for the lead.

Ryder DiFrancesco

Ryder DiFrancesco carried the flag for the United States as he was the only American on the podium in either class. To make it even more special, it was Ryder D’s first career MX podium and he did it by way of 6-3 moto scores. He has been trending towards it all season and finally got it. He has three moto podiums this season, all coming in the second motos. His first motos have been his Achilles heel but he has steadily improved those at each round: 19-12-9-7-6.

Ryder D’s second motos have been some of the best in class. His finishes in those this season have been 3-8-3-6-3. He now sits fifth in the points standings. He is averaging 29.40 points per round this season after averaging 18.84 before 2026.

Casey Cochran

Casey Cochran built upon his good form at High Point and earned fourth overall with 5-4 moto scores. It is the first time he finished in the top five in both motos of a national and the 35 points he earned tied his career best points haul at a national. Fourth overall is his second best overall finish and best since he got third in his rookie season in 2024 at Spring Creek. It is also his second ever top five overall finish. His eighth in qualifying was his best effort since he qualified fifth at Hangtown in 2025.

Thanks to Cochran and his teammate, DiFrancesco, Husqvarna had one of their better days at a national. They had two bikes inside the top four overall of the 250 class for just the third time ever. The last time it happened was also at Red Bud with Stilez Robertson (3rd) and R.J. Hampshire (4th) in 2022.

Levi Kitchen

Levi Kitchen earned fifth overall with 4-5 moto scores. He has now finished in the top five at all five rounds to start the season and has done so in qualifying as well. His results have been good but are slowly starting to trend in the wrong direction. His last four results have been 1-2-4-5. He also surrendered his points lead to Shimoda and sits nine points off the lead.

On a more positive note, this was his best finish at Red Bud since 2022 when he finished second and his third in qualifying was his best ever at the track. His average moto finish is 4.70 which is second best in class and his average qualifying finish is 3.20 which is second best among riders to race every round.

Caden Dudney

Caden Dudney earned his second best overall finish with a sixth by way of 2-12 moto scores. The 16 year old put on a show in moto one, earning the holeshot and leading the opening 12 laps of the moto before succumbing to his teammate, Davies. That second place is a career best moto finish for him and first ever moto podium. His sprint pace in moto one was immense as he set the fastest time in four of the first five laps.

Dudney cemented himself in history with those laps led in moto one. He is the first 16 year old since Zach Osborne in 2006 at Budds Creek to lead laps at a national. He will also be the last as the age minimum to race pro is now 17 and will be pushed to 18 next season.
