SMXMUSE NEWS
Race previews, recaps, and a deeper look at the numbers behind the sport.
With it being Motocross of Nations week, I felt it was a good time to bring back out the non-USA rider leaderboards to celebrate the success that many riders from all around the world have cultivated in the States. In this post you will find leaderboards for all time wins, podiums, and appearances for international riders in America!
Eli Tomac raced 695 different riders across SX main events, MX overalls, and SMX overalls. I highlighted his three most common opponents, Justin Barcia, Ken Roczen, and Jason Anderson. Read about their first and last meetings and then see how many times he raced each of those 695 different riders!
Jorge Prado clutched up in moto two to bring home his first SMX Playoff moto win which earned him the SuperMotocross World Championship in the 450 class. Levi Kitchen got some of his best starts of the season and essentially cruised to the 250 SuperMotocross World Championship in the 250 class with 2-2 moto scores.
Jorge Prado enters the SMX World Championship Playoff Finale with a healthy 16 point lead over Haiden Deegan and Hunter Lawrence. A third or better clinches the championship for the Spaniard. In the 250 class, it is essentially winner take all between Levi Kitchen and Ryder DiFrancesco (-3) but Julien Beaumer is lurking (-16) not too far behind.
A frenetic night of racing in Los Angeles saw both red plate holders, Jorge Prado and Levi Kitchen, retain their points leads with a first and third overall respectively. It was Prado's first SMX Playoff victory and his KTM teammate, Julien Beaumer, did the same in the 250 class.
Jorge Prado will have a red plate for the first time in the United States although Haiden Deegan is hot on his heels two points back. Levi Kitchen holds the red plate in the 250 class with a seven point cushion over Husqvarna's Ryder DiFrancesco.
Another muddy day in Ohio saw Haiden Deegan dominate the 450 class en route to his first 450 victory and Levi Kitchen bounced back from a disappointing end to the motocross campaign with his first SMX Playoff victory.
The SMX Playoffs will get underway in Ohio highlighted by Jo Shimoda returning to defend his 250 crown, Cole Davies looking to become the first rider to win all three 250 titles in one year, and Hunter Lawrence looking for his first 450 SMX title after finishing second two years in a row.
A frenetic season has come to an end and three new champions were crowned at Ironman! Jorge Prado earned the first overall win of his career in the 450 class and did so via a perfect day, sweeping the motos and topping qualifying.
With one round to go, one point separates Hunter and Jett Lawrence atop the 450 standings. Cole Davies has a more manageable 14 point cushion over Levi Kitchen in the 250 class. Lachlan Turner has a much more manageable 21 point cushion over Charli Cannon in WMX.
The points leads flipped in both classes as Hunter Lawrence, the 450 winner, and Cole Davies, the 250 second place finisher, now hold the advantage in their respective classes going into the final round. Lachlan Turner extended her points lead to 21 with another 1-1 performance WMX.
Jett Lawrence now becomes the hunted with his brother, Hunter, trying to make up a ten point deficit. In the 250 class, Levi Kitchen leads Cole Davies by just one point in the closest 250 title race since 1990.
Jett Lawrence regained the points lead with a victory and a moto two DNF from Hunter Lawrence while Cole Davies won and sliced his points deficit to one behind Levi Kitchen. Lachlan Turner returned to the top step of the podium as the WMX season resumed.
The series resumes as Jett looks to remain unbeaten at Unadilla and Cole Davies looks to chip away at his seven point deficit to Levi Kitchen.
At Washougal, Hunter Lawrence made it four wins in five and Cole Davies earned the second perfect day of his career and this season.
Hunter Lawrence and Levi Kitchen look to protect their points leads while searching for their first Washougal wins.
A crazy day at Spring Creek saw the points lead change hands in both classes yet again. Hunter Lawrence won and now leads by 10 over Jett Lawrence. Levi Kitchen finished third but due to troubles from Cole Davies, he now leads by 24 points. Julien Beaumer took advantage of the craziness and earned the first moto and overall wins of his career.
Jett Lawrence and Cole Davies enter Spring Creek with narrow points leads. Can Hunter Lawrence wrestle the points lead away again? He hasn't finished worse than second in a moto here since 2022? Can Levi Kitchen recapture his 2024 Spring Creek form and go 1-1?
After two races without a win, Jett Lawrence returned to the top step of the podium and the points standings. Sacha Coenen earned his first career overall win with a perfect day by going 1-1 and topping timed qualifying.
The two new points leaders after Red Bud, Hunter Lawrence and Jo Shimoda, will look to build upon their points leads but will each have to contend with the returning Coenen brothers.
Hunter Lawrence and Cole Davies both follow up their High Point overall wins by winning again at Red Bud. International riders dominated the top end of each class on the United States of America's 250th birthday.
Only three points make up the points leads in both the 250 and 450 classes combined. Can Jett continue to be perfect at Red Bud on a 450? Can Levi Kitchen be the first active points leader to win at Red Bud since 2018?
Hunter Lawrence and Cole Davies both went 1-1 at High Point and it's only the seventh time two non-USA riders swept the motos at a national. It's the first time it hasn't involved Jett Lawrence and Jo Shimoda since Chad Reed and Christophe Pourcel in 2009 at Unadilla
Jett Lawrence has his first points lead of 2026 and Levi Kitchen has his first MX points lead ever, albeit in a tie with his teammate Seth Hammaker, heading into round four at High Point!
It was a Honda sweep as Jett Lawrence earned his 20th 1-1 overall victory, tied for the second most all time, and Jo Shimoda earned his first overall victory of the season with consistent 3-2 moto scores.
Jett Lawrence (-6) and Levi Kitchen (-7), fresh off victories at Hangtown, will look to further eat into those points deficits at Thunder Valley.
Jett Lawrence returned to his winning ways by going 1-1 in the 450 class. Levi Kitchen did so as well, winning his first overall in the 250 class since 2024 by going 2-2.
Hunter Lawrence and Seth Hammaker take their red plates into Hangtown. How do they stack up with the rest of their respective fields?
