450 Class
Jett Lawrence
Jett Lawrence returned to his historically dominant fashion by going 1-1 in the motos for first overall while also earning his 23rd career pole position, which moves him into second most all time in the timed qualifying era. This was Jett’s 19th 1-1 which ties him for third most with Eli Tomac and he is only one away from second most, Ryan Dungey (20).
Jett’s two moto wins tied him with Ken Roczen for fifth all time in 450 moto wins with 46 a piece. This was his 25th career overall win which creeps him up closer to Bob Hannah’s 27 which is fourth most all time.
To touch a little more on how well Jett’s day went, he led every single lap of both motos and set the fastest lap time and fastest average lap time in both motos.
Hunter Lawrence
Hunter Lawrence continued his impressive 450 career with a 2-2 for second overall and he will retain the red plate. 24 450 races for Hunter and 24 top five overalls. 19 of those 24 races have now been podium finishes. His career 450 podium percentage is now just 0.14% behind Ryan Dungey for fifth best all time.
Hunter has finished second or better in every moto except one since he went 5-4 at Washougal last season. The one exception was a third in the first moto at Budds Creek in 2025. This was only the second race since Southwick last season in which Hunter did not register a lap led. He’s led laps in six of his last eight races.
Haiden Deegan
Haiden Deegan put his machine on the box for the first time in his 450 career by going 3-3 for third overall. He improved from round one in nearly every category: moto finishes (3), overall finish (3), qualifying finish (2), and lap one position (5.5). Deegan has been the only American rider to finish on the 450 overall podium so far this season.
Deegan continued his great results at Hangtown as he has still only ever finished off the moto podium one time in his entire career. It came in his rookie season in 2022 and it was a fourth in the second moto. He’s finished on the overall podium in all four of his visits.
Dylan Ferrandis
Dylan Ferrandis earned Ducati their best ever finish at a national by going 4-6 for fourth overall. This was Ferrandis’ best overall finish in nearly two years. Unadilla 2024 was the last time he finished fourth. Since his return from injury in 2025 at Ironman, Ferrandis has finished inside the top ten overall and in each moto. His fourth in the first moto at Hangtown was his best moto finish since that return. With his teammate Justin Barcia finishing tenth, it is the first time Ducati has had two bikes inside the top ten overall.
Garrett Marchbanks
Garrett Marchbanks earned fifth overall at Hangtown by going 6-5 in the motos. After his big crash in moto 1 at Fox Raceway, Marchbanks has improved each moto going 28-8-6-5 through the opening rounds. This fifth overall ties his career best finish on a 450 which he originally set at Southwick in 2023. He has finished in the top ten overall in eleven of his last fourteen 450 MX starts since 2023. Prior to that stretch, he had just two in the class in twelve starts.
Marchbanks had something dialed in for segment five because in both motos, he set the fastest segment time through there. Sector five was the switchbacks through to the finish line.
R.J. Hampshire
R.J. Hampshire earned a hard fought sixth overall by way of 5-7 moto scores. Hampshire has had an underrated start to his 450 MX career. He has raced thirteen times in the class and has a 100% top ten percentage. He has finished inside the top ten in 25 of the 26 motos he has raced. The one time he didn’t was a twelfth in his 450 debut at Fox Raceway last season.
Hampshire is one of just three riders with thirteen or more starts to have a 100% top ten rate in the 450 class. He joins Hunter Lawrence and Jean Michel Bayle
250 Class
Levi Kitchen
Levi Kitchen made his long awaited return to the top step of the podium with consistent 2-2 moto scores. This was his first win in any discipline since Ford Field, early in 2025, and his first in motocross since Budds Creek in 2024. This was his fourth career victory outdoors and he is now up to 29 career moto podiums.
Kitchen made it the first Kawasaki sweep at the first two rounds of a series since Adam Cianciarulo won both of the opening rounds in 2019. Kitchen kept the Cianciarulo links going because this was his fifteenth career overall podium, tying him with AC, Justin Barcia, Larry Ward, Stephane Roncada, and Micky Dymond.
Julien Beaumer
Julien Beaumer went 4-3 in the motos to earn himself his best career result, second overall. This was his first career overall podium and it comes just one week after he earned his first career moto podium. An American KTM rider had not finished second or better in the 250 class since 2019 when Shane McElrath went 1-1 at Budds Creek.
Beaumer’s third place in moto two came after crossing the holeshot line in eleventh place. His second moto finishes have averaged to be 2.50 so far this season which is the best mark in the class by two positions over Cole Davies’ 4.50.
Seth Hammaker
Seth Hammaker secured his second career podium the hard way by going 1-9 for third place. His second moto ride earned him the hard charger award for the moto. He went down in the first turn, crossed in 28th place and made his way up to 9th moving up 19 positions. It was great damage control and he still maintains a healthy seven point points lead going into round three. Hammaker is the only rider so far this season to podium both races and he also has half the holeshots so far with two.
Hammaker joined his teammate, Levi Kitchen, on the podium and in doing so, it is the first time in fifteen (15) years Kawasaki has had multiple riders on the podium. It hasn’t happened since Dean Wilson and Blake Baggett at Fox Raceway in 2011.
Cole Davies
Cole Davies earned his second career moto win in just his eighth ever individual moto start. It wouldn’t come with an overall podium though as his 11-1 put him just outside in fourth place. It is the second best overall finish of his young MX career.
Davies’ second moto was about as dominant as you can get. He had the fastest lap time and fastest average lap time. His best lap was 1.918 seconds faster than Kitchen who had the second fastest time of the race. Davies had the best segment time in the first three segments and the best average segment times in segments 1 and 3. He had the fastest lap in six of the first seven laps of the race to build his advantage. His 9.337 margin of victory was the largest of the four motos so far this season in the class.
Jo Shimoda
Jo Shimoda earned a top five result with 3-6 moto scores. His second moto charge came after he crossed the holeshot line in 23rd place after getting caught up in the big pileup. Shimoda’s third in moto one was his 55th career moto podium which means he is now three away from tying James Stewart and Blake Baggett with 58.
Shimoda’s moto two charge went down to the last lap as he set a top three fastest lap time in each of the last six laps, including having the fastest times in laps 15 and 16. Despite coming through the pack the whole moto, Shimoda had the third fastest average lap time of the whole race.
Nick Romano
Nick Romano’s renaissance has been one of the better stories of the 2026 season so far. He went 7-4 at Hangtown for a career best sixth overall. His fourth in moto two tied his career best moto finish which he set in his rookie season in 2022. Romano had six top ten moto finishes in 38 moto starts entering 2026. He already has three in four this season.
Only three other riders have spent more laps inside the top five this season than Romano. He has 41 laps spent in the top five while only Kitchen (43), Beaumer (45), and Hammaker (48) have more.
