450 Class

Jett Lawrence

Jett Lawrence made sure he wouldn’t lose three races in a row as he got back to his winning ways at Southwick with 2-1 moto scores. He also reclaimed the points lead by one point over his brother Hunter after losing it just one round ago at Red Bud. He made sure his overall perfection remained at Southwick as he has now won all four there in his 450 career. He ties Jeff Stanton for second most Southwick 450 class wins at Southwick.

Jett hit a few big milestones with his victory. It was the 27th overall of his career which ties him with Bob Hannah for fourth most all time. He is now five behind Eli Tomac’s 32. His second moto win was the 50th of his career and he is now one of four riders with 50+ 450 class moto wins.

Jett’s speed was top in both motos. In both motos he had the fastest lap and in moto two, he had the fastest average lap time as well. He had only one lap in each moto that wasn’t in the top three fastest times of the lap.

Hunter Lawrence

Hunter Lawrence was minutes away from a 1-1 but a late crash in moto two relegated him to fourth place for the moto and second overall. It is the tenth time Hunter has finished second overall to his brother, Jett. That’s the third most second places to one rider in 450 MX history.

Hunter tied South African great, Greg Albertyn in two different categories at Southwick. This was Hunter’s 23rd career overall podium in the class and his moto one victory was his eleventh in the class, both tied Albertyn. His moto win in moto one was also his 41st moto podium in the 450 class which tied Southwick legend, John Dowd, in the all time rankings.

Haiden Deegan

Haiden Deegan had the best day of his 450 career at Southwick. He returned to the overall podium via 3-2 moto scores for third overall. The second place in moto two is a 450 career best moto finish and it is the second time this season he has finished on the podium in both motos. His 42 point points haul is the most he has earned so far this season. Deegan’s starts were the best he has had all season as he rounded lap one inside the top three in both motos for the first time on a 450.

This was Deegan’s third overall podium on a 450 and he remains the only American rider to earn an overall podium in the class in 2026. One American to have podiumed through six rounds is the lowest amount of all time. The second lowest was two back in 2004: Ricky Carmichael and Kevin Windham.

Jorge Prado

Jorge Prado finished fourth overall with 4-3 moto scores. The Spaniard has now finished on the moto podium in six of the twelve motos this season and is riding a streak of four straight top five finishes, three of those in the top four.

Prado showed off his fitness in the latter stages of both motos, mostly in moto two. In that moto, he set the fastest lap of five of the last nine laps including the three final laps in his effort to chase down Haiden Deegan. He had the fastest average segment times in segment 1 and 4 in that moto and his laptime consistency score was 99.109% which was the best in the moto.

Garrett Marchbanks

Garrett Marchbanks continued to plug away at Southwick and he scored another top five with consistent 5-5 moto scores for fifth overall. It is his fourth top five of the season which is the same as Haiden Deegan. Marchbanks has now finished in the top five in six of his last ten motos while the only finishes outside the top five in that stretch have been sixths. This fifth tied his career best at Southwick which he set in 2023 but with 10-5 moto scores.

I mentioned last week that Marchbanks’ starts have been improving and they did again this weekend. He started moto one in eighth and moto two in fifth. Fifth is the best he has started a moto in the last two seasons combined.

Cooper Webb

Cooper Webb earned sixth overall by way of 10-6 moto scores. The sixth overall is a season best and best since Thunder Valley, 2025. His sixth in moto two was a season best and his best since he also got sixth in moto two at that same Thunder Valley race one year ago. Webb has always been solid at Southwick on a 450, never finishing outside the top ten in a moto or worse than eighth overall.

In moto one, Webb clicked off steady laps as he held the second best laptime consistency rating of the moto. His sixth overall was the 49th top ten overall of his career and he now stands one race away from getting his 50th.

250 Class

Sacha Coenen

Sacha Coenen had a wild day that resulted in a 1-1 overall victory but a potential injury. He also earned the pole position in qualifying making it a perfect day. He is the first KTM rider to have a perfect day in the 250 class in over eleven years. Marvin Musquin was last to do so at High Point in 2015. He is the first European rider to have one in the class since Dylan Ferrandis at WW Ranch in 2020.

Sacha has raced in America just twice but has won three of the four motos he has lined up for and led 43 laps which is 21.7% of all laps this season, despite racing just a third of the motos. His first moto at Southwick was utterly dominant. He had the fastest lap time, average lap time, and fastest average segment time in five of the six segments on the track. He had the fastest lap of twelve of the sixteen laps including all of the first six of the race.

Moto two he had the fastest raw times in five of the six segments. With his overall win, he made Belgium the tenth different country to have a rider win a 250 MX overall.

Levi Kitchen

Levi Kitchen found his way back on the podium in second overall with 2-4 moto scores. It is his first podium since Thunder Valley and the seventeenth of his career which ties him with Broc Hepler. His second in moto one was his 31st moto podium which ties him with Ken Roczen. He was down nine points in the championship but managed to cut that to just two.

After not podiuming at Southwick in his first three attempts, he now has back to back podium finishes there and he now averages an overall finish there of 4.80 which is his third best on the circuit. Kitchen’s first moto pace was only second to race winner Sacha Coenen. Kitchen had the second fastest average lap time and the fastest average through segment five.

Cole Davies

Cole Davies earned the fourth podium of his career by going 7-2 for third overall. His four overall podiums and seven moto podiums this season lead the class. Davies earned both holeshots on the day which extends his holeshot streak to three. He’s holeshotted four of the last six motos. A crash in moto one hindered him from a better points haul but he did manage to earn the points lead for the first time in his brief MX career by two points.

Davies’ three moto holeshot streak is the most since Chance Hymas last year at rounds 2-3. In both motos at Southwick, Davies had the second fastest lap time. In moto two, he had the second best segment time through five of the six segments and the best time through segment three, set on the opening lap.

Kayden Minear

Kayden Minear had the best day of his professional career by going 6-3 for fourth overall. His sixth in moto one equalled his career best first moto finish and his third in moto two equalled his best second moto finish. His fourth overall was a career best, his sixth in qualifying was a career best, and his 36 point points haul was a career best.

Minear’s speed was well on display in both motos at Southwick. He had the third fastest average lap time in both motos. In moto one, he managed to do so despite coming through the pack as he crossed the holeshot line in 24th place. His consistency score that moto was the second best. In moto two, he showed endurance as he set a top three fastest lap time in all but one of the last seven laps of the race.

Julien Beaumer

Julien Beaumer bounced back after a rough day at Red Bud to earn a fifth overall with 4-5 moto scores. It is already his fourth top five overall finish of the season despite having only three prior to this season. It is the fourth time in his career he finished in the top five in both motos. This is his best finish at Southwick by far as he had never finished in the top 20 overall in his first two attempts.

Despite the down day one week ago, Beaumer is still putting up a strong showing in the points standings as he sits in a tie for third with the now idle Jo Shimoda. He has 194 points through six rounds which is only 27 away from his career high points in a season, set in ten rounds of the 2024 series.

Chance Hymas

Chance Hymas has steadily been building this season and his 5-7 for sixth overall at Southwick marks the fourth consecutive race in which he has improved his overall finish. His last four finishes have been 18-9-7-6. His starts have been one of the bigger detriments to his results this season because prior to Southwick, he averaged a lap one position of 14.70.

At Southwick, he started moto one in fourth and moto two in sixth. His last three moto starts, dating back to moto two at Red Bud, have all been inside the top six after having done so just one time all season before that.
