450 Class
Jett Lawrence
Jett Lawrence had to fight for it but he earned his 28th career 450 MX overall victory with 2-1 moto scores at Unadilla. The win moves him into sole possession of fourth most wins all time in the class. He is now four behind Eli Tomac. Due to his brother, Hunter, DNF-ing moto two, Jett now holds the points lead for the first time since Spring Creek. The ten point gap is the largest he’s held this season.
This was Jett’s third overall win in the class at Unadilla which ties him with Ken Roczen and Mike LaRocco for third most at the venue. He finished first in qualifying for the third time in as many visits to the track which is the second most there all time, now one behind Roczen’s record four.
The odds for the championship are now firmly in Jett’s favor. When riders have a 10+ points lead in the Premier class with two rounds remaining, they have won gone onto win the championship 29/29 times.
Hunter Lawrence
It was heartbreak for Hunter Lawrence who was in position to maintain a healthy points lead over Jett before a huge crash ultimately ended his second moto early. His 1-39 finishes would yield him eighth overall. The overall finish and second moto finish being career lows. His first moto victory was the fifteenth of his career and tied him with Jim Weinert and Marty Tripes on the all time class leaderboards.
Hunter’s record breaking top five overall streak has sadly come to an end. He broke his trainer Johnny O’Mara’s all time record last season for most top five overalls in a row to start a Premier class MX career (18) and extended it to 30 at Washougal. His top five moto streak, mentioned in the pre race notes, also came to an end, one moto short of tying Ryan Dungey’s streak of 40 which is the fifth longest all time.
Jorge Prado
Jorge Prado went 3-2 for second overall in one of, if not, the most impressive day of his AMA career. Prado had speed all day and showed it in the motos by setting the fastest lap of the race in both of them. In moto one, he set the fastest segment time in four of the six segments. In moto two, he had the second fastest average lap time of the moto and a top three average segment time in all six segments.
Prado now has ten moto podiums this season which is tied with Haiden Deegan for third most in the class. Four of those have come from the previous five motos. He has had just one moto outside the top four since moto two at High Point.
Haiden Deegan
Haiden Deegan continues to click off podiums in his maiden 450 season as he earned third overall with 4-3 moto scores at Unadilla. This was his sixth career podium in the class and that ties him with his teammate Cooper Webb and former champion Grant Langston. He has now finished on the overall podium at four straight rounds and continues unlocking new milestones. In moto one, he earned his second holeshot of the season, doing so now at back to back rounds, and led the first lap of his 450 career. He is the first American rider to lead a lap this season in the class.
Deegan has finished on the moto podium in moto two at eight consecutive races. The only race he did not podium moto two was the season opener when he finished fourth. His moto two average finish is 2.78 and is only bested this season by Jett Lawrence’s 2.44.
Garrett Marchbanks
Garrett Marchbanks returned to action at Unadilla after crashing out of the racing at Washougal and he picked up right where he left off. He would go 5-4 for fourth overall and he did it the hard way, coming from behind in both motos and overcoming crashes. He rounded lap one in 18th place in both motos. Over the course of both motos, Marchbanks made thirty forward passes, most in the class for the day.
The fourth in moto two was Marchbanks’ best moto finish at Unadilla in either class. This was just the second time he has finished in the top five in both motos in his 450 career. The other time he did it was at Southwick this season where he went 5-5.
R.J. Hampshire
R.J. Hampshire earned the ninth top five overall of his 450 career by going 6-8 in the motos. His day also involved a lot of moving forward as he started moto two in 20th place. His 23 forward passes on the day were tied for second most in the class.
After not finishing in the top five at the first four rounds, Hampshire has alternated top five results every other round since then. This was his third one of the season. He is one of four riders to top ten every round this season. The Lawrence brothers and Deegan are the other three.
250 Class
Cole Davies
Cole Davies survived a huge crash in qualifying to earn his fourth overall victory of the season and his career with 2-1 moto scores. He has trimmed the points deficit down to one after being down 25 just two rounds ago. He is leading nearly every major statistical category now other than the points. He has the most wins (4), moto wins (7), podiums (6), moto podiums (11), pole positions (4), and holeshots (6).
There was some New Zealand energy in the air at Unadilla. This was Davies’ fourth overall win in his first eleven starts which ties him with Ben Townley for fifth most in a riders’ first eleven starts. His fellow countryman, Brodie Connolly, finished sixth overall and helped cut Davies’ deficit to one in the final turn of the last lap of moto two by passing Levi Kitchen. Connolly’s sixth and Davies’ win means its the first time two Kiwis have finished in the top ten overall together at an AMA national in either class.
Levi Kitchen
Levi Kitchen had one of the digs of the season in moto two to maintain his points lead going into the final two rounds. Kitchen would end up second overall with 1-6 moto scores. He absolutely dominated moto one as he set the fastest lap and fastest average lap time of the moto. He also had the fastest lap of each individual lap from laps 4-12. He led his first laps since Thunder Valley and won his first moto since that race as well.
His first moto win was the tenth moto win of his career which ties him with Damon Bradshaw, Joey Savatgy, and Stephane Roncada. This was his 19th overall podium which ties him with Jett Lawrence and Doug Henry.
In moto two, Kitchen made 31 forward passes. That is the most anyone has made in a moto in the class so far this season. From the end of lap one to the finish, Kitchen now has a whopping 148 net positions gained. That is sixty more than the next closest rider.
Chance Hymas
Chance Hymas continues to plug away during the second half of the season as he has now finished on the podium in three straight races after his 4-2 moto scores at Unadilla. This is the first time in his career he has finished on the podium in three straight races. Going back to his moto win at Spring Creek, Hymas has finished on the moto podium in four of his last five motos with his one non-podium being his fourth in moto one here at Unadilla.
I’ve highlighted it before but Hymas’ starts have been a massive catalyst in his second half improvement. At Unadilla, he had his best starts of the season, rounding lap one in second in both of them. Going back to Washougal, he has rounded lap one in second place now in three straight motos.
Carson Mumford
Carson Mumford continues to impress and is knocking on the door of an overall podium. He finished fourth overall at Unadilla with 3-4 moto scores in a career best day. His 38 point points haul is the most he has earned after a day of racing. He finished second overall in timed qualifying, a new career best, and had the fastest time of the second session.
Mumford had to work for his great results in both motos. He crossed the holeshot line in fourteenth in moto one and charged to third and in moto two, he crossed the holeshot line and dug to fourth. Despite both charges to the front, Mumford had the third best average lap time in both motos and in moto two, he had the best lap time consistency rating of the moto.
Ryder DiFrancesco
Ryder DiFrancesco earned fifth overall with 5-3 moto scores. His 37 points earned on the day are tied for the second most by a rider who finished fifth overall in the 250 class. It’s the most by a fifth place rider since Haiden Deegan’s 38 points with 2-6 moto scores at Red Bud in 2024. This was the fifth top five of DiFrancesco’s career and he has now finished on the moto podium in three of the last four motos.
DiFrancesco is inching up on third place in points as he is now fifteen points behind Julien Beaumer. Through nine rounds, he has 275 points which is more than any other full season he has raced.
Brodie Connolly
Brodie Connolly surprised a lot of people by jumping back into the series and finishing sixth overall with 8-5 moto scores. It was a career day all around starting in qualifying. He finished fifteenth fastest which was a career best, his previous best was nineteenth. His moto scores were both career bests by far as his previous best moto was a sixteenth, set at Unadilla just one season ago.
On that day at Unadilla in 2025 was his previous best overall finish of 20th. He shattered that by fourteen positions this season. He got the best starts of his U.S. career by starting in eighth and fifth in both motos, mirroring his moto finishes. His previous best lap one position was ninth, first set again at Unadilla in 2025.
WMX Class
Lachlan Turner
Lachlan Turner returned to the top step of the podium as the WMX series resumed at Unadilla. Turner went 1-1 on the day making it the ninth 1-1 day of her career. She had the fastest lap time and average lap time in both motos. On Friday, she also finished first in qualifying making it a perfect weekend for her.
This was the twelfth overall win of her career which is fourth most all time in WMX. If she wins the final two rounds, she will tie Kylie Fasnacht for third most with fourteen. This was Turner’s sixteenth overall podium which ties her with Mackenzie Tricker for eighth on the all time leaderboard. Turner has never finished off the podium in a moto or overall in her career.
Charli Cannon
Charli Cannon resumed the WMX season by finishing second overall via 2-2 moto scores. The Australian is on a streak of nine straight overall podiums. Her only non-podium finish was fourth place in her U.S. debut in 2025. She hasn’t been off the podium since. Her nine career podiums have her sixteenth all time in the podium leaderboards, one spot ahead of Hannah Hodges and one spot behind Mariana Balbi.
Cannon was strong in both motos, setting the second fastest average lap times in both. In moto two, she did not give up her charge towards Turner as she set the fastest lap of two of the final three laps. She had the fastest segment times in three of the six segments that moto.
Mayla Herrick
In just her second career professional race, Mayla Herrick found herself on the podium with 4-3 moto scores. She earned a holeshot in moto one and led the opening lap meaning she has now led at least a lap in two of the three motos she has finished in her career. Her two holeshots this season are tied for the most and she has only officially started three motos.
Her speed is right there as she had the second fastest lap time of the first moto and in moto two, had the third fastest time and average time. Seven riders have finished on the podium this season and she is the third American to do so. Mikayla Nielson and Turner are the other two.
